In a divisive political climate with much upheaval for black, LatinX, immigrant, gender equality, and trans rights, the future is dependent on self-created futures in social media and music to cope. Collective Futures in Music will feature five emerging artists (DJ Genie, DJ Trillnatured, DJ Toyo Mansi, Kotic Couture, and EN'B) who have used music as a vehicle of expression to endure the long lasting effects of slavery, imperialism, illness, and resistance movements. Later, the artists will gather for a panel to discuss how musicians in the DMV area, the epicenter of politics, and Baltimore, the epicenter of uprising and burgeoning Black Arts, are creating their own futures and justice through music.
